whirlykidde is a line of poetic capsule collections of children's products which consists of clothing, soft plush toys and poetry books. Everything is designed, illustrated and ethically produced in Illinois.
whirlykidde was founded in 2015 by Owner/ Designer Heather Thornton. whirlykidde is located in Naperville, IL.
Heather Thornton is the author and illustrator behind the books and designer behind the brand whirlykidde.
Everything is made with love and dedication. Everything is cut by hand and sewn by Heather. Every book illustration is thoughtfully planned out and drawn to scale to fit into little hands so they will get excited about the characters in the books.
Heather is a mother of two children. Design is a career she has been involved in for more than twenty years. She started writing because she has a son with autism. She quickly became accustomed to writing her son social stories when he started preschool. This is the reason poetry books are included with her children’s capsule collections. Each product comes with an e-book download that coordinates with the capsule collection.
All fabrics are sourced from the USA. Organic fabrics are used when available. All products are made to order in the USA. The fabrics are printed using a digital printing process using eco-friendly, water-based inks on natural fibers. This process wastes less fabric and uses less resources. whirlykidde is registered with CPSC and all organic fabrics used for products are certified organic cotton by Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS).
